International maritime artist Leo Kuschel from Taylor, Michigan captures the solitary beauty of the Great Lakes with his limited edition prints featuring freighters, bridges and lighthouses. These signed, numbered and professionally, framed limited edition prints are part of a  private collection owned by a local businessman who is liquidating his business. His Leo Kuschel collection graced the walls of his office and conference rooms.

Split Rock Lighthouse

Now you can enhance the beauty of your home or office with these much sought after prints.

Prints up for auction include: Celebrate the Great Lakes (artist has sold out this print), Detroit Light, Grand Traverse Lighthouse Lake Michigan, Split Rock Lighthouse Lake Superior,  and Point Clark Lighthouse Lake Huron.

Prints were professionally matted and framed by Rivers Edge Gallery, a gallery that once operated in Wyandotte, Michigan. The clean lines of the contemporary metal frames do not compete with the artwork. Frame color is like a dark, charcoal gray.

Point Clark Lighthouse

Artist Leo Kuschel is well known for his Great Lakes maritime themes including ships, freighters and lighthouses. Growing up in the Michigan cities of Detroit and Port Huron, not far from the water with three uncles serving in the United States Lighthouse Service, Kuschel was inspired to record the maritime history of the Great Lakes.

During a 10 year period,  the Historical Society of Michigan published an annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Calendar featuring pen and ink drawings by Leo and short stories written by both Leo and his wife Sue Kuschel.

Celebrate the Great Lakes (print sold out by artist)

One of Kuschel’s paintings – Lights of Peace and Friendship – hung in the Oval Office of the White House. The painting, commissioned in October 1991 by the German American Committee, was a gift to then President George H. Bush to depict the fellowship between the two countries.
